75 Bible Adventures

The 75 Bible Adventures pack offers different stories from the old and new testament.  As the story is read, there are pictures for the user to color.  My 8 year old enjoys coloring the various pictures as she listens to the story being read.

Bible Sleuth

This program was a little complicated, even for an adult (myself and my husband).  The player must run around the map collecting pieces to ‘build’ deactivation cards.  The player can also get clues from a dog that is also running around the map.  But first the player must answer a question correctly.  These are fairly easy to answer.  There are secret agents on the map with clues and pieces that the player must acquire.  To acquire these things the player must first solve a puzzle.  Generally, this means putting a Bible verse in correct order.  I had trouble doing this, but it would not be too difficult with a Bible sitting next to you, since it does give you the book, chapter and verse that you are working with.  The second type of puzzle I encountered, involves putting the pieces of a verse in order, where only one phrase is given at a time.  However, this is more like a jigsaw puzzle, and the pieces will only ‘fit’ in certain slots.  This was easier than the first type of puzzle in my opinion.  Once the player has enough pieces, he must ‘construct’ a deactivation card.  I have not yet gotten far enough to attempt this.  Once the deactivation card is constructed successfully, the player must hunt down a robot and ‘insert’ the deactivation card.  All of this is under a time constraint to accomplish the deactivation of the robot.  I am afraid this game would be terribly frustrating for children.  It was frustrating for me !

Rev-up Arithmetic

This program is designed for pre-school through kindergarten/first grade.  The program has 12 levels, starting with simple number recognition (1-9) and works up to addition of numbers between 1 and 20.

Bible Crossword

Being a crossword buff, I thoroughly enjoy this game.  It combines both Bible trivia and general trivia to solve the puzzle.  If you answer a clue incorrectly, you’re response is erased.  If you get stumped there are ‘hint’ options.  You can have one vowel or one consonant filled in for you, or all vowels or all consonants filled in.  If you are working on a puzzle and need to stop for some reason, you can save the partially solved puzzle and finish it later.

David & Goliath

This is an adventure game where the player is Goliath.  At the beginning of the game, David has lost two of his sheep and has to find them.  After finding the sheep, he is summoned to a family gathering.  After that, he must go and play his harp for the king.  Along the way, there are various puzzles that must be solved before the player can go on.  Any child that likes adventure games should enjoy this one as well.

Putt Putt Goes to the Moon

Putt Putt is a little car that is about to go on an adventure.  The player controls Putt Putt with the mouse.  At the beginning of the game, you take Putt Putt to a firecracker factory.  There are all kinds of things to click on at the factory and different things happen.  Once you click on the right (wrong?) thing, Putt Putt is launched to the moon.  Once on the moon, Putt Putt must search for all the parts to put a space ship together so that he may return to earth.  Along the way, there are several games that can be played.  Once all the pieces of the space ship are found and put together Putt Putt gets to return to Earth.
Both my girls enjoy the Putt Putt games very much.  They did get frustrated a time or two (there are a tricks to getting some of the parts), but they kept after and solved the puzzles.  Even after they completely solved the puzzle and returned to Earth the first time, they would play it again and again.  They didn’t care that they knew where everything was.  It was fun to go get all the parts, put them together, and play all the games.
I highly recommend any of the Putt Putt games.  The kids enjoy them (and I do too!)  Even though they solve the puzzle, they will replay the game, time and time again.

Putt Putt Saves the Zoo

Putt Putt Saves the Zoo uses the same little car as Putt Putt Goes to the Moon.  In this adventure, Putt Putt must find the missing baby animals at the zoo and get them back with their parents.  This one also has different tricks to solving problems, and games that can be played during the course of the adventure.

My children also enjoyed this game immensely and would play it again and again, even after they solved it the first time.

Freddie Fish and the Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds

The Freddie Fish games are similar to the Putt Putt games, except the adventurer is a little fish named Freddie, rather than the car.  Freddie is looking for some missing kelp seeds, but also has different puzzles to solve along the way.  There are also different games to play during the course of the game.

Once again, my children enjoyed this game and would play it repeatedly.

All three of these programs are from ‘Humongous Entertainment’ and I highly recommend any of them.
