On Face Book!
On Face Book!
This was my farm back when I was at level 30.
This was my farm at level 33.
This is your controls for Farm Town.  Your neighbors, maps and fuctions are kept here.
Of all the games on Face Book Farm Town has more to offer in several ways.  In the time I've been on Farm Town I've learned that you can learn quite a lot about a person.  You meet new friends and build stronger relationships with old friends by becoming neighbors on Farm Town.
Farms grow fastest when people work together as a team.
Farms grow slowest when people are selfish and self centered.
Nature has rules, laws that it follows.  There's a reason why dogs run in packs.  They learn to work as a team and they build strong bonds between them.
People do the same thing when they work together as a team.  They build bonds, learn to work productively together as a group and build friendships.

First I would like to say this FB game was my gateway drug into the harsh world of FB battle games.  It nearly ruined my life.  Everyone has something they can become adicted to and people by the millions are becoming adicted to FB and online games.

This was as bad as any drug or alchol you could imagin.  I lost interest in work.  I played night and day.  I would get up from bed at 1-2-3 AM just to play these games.  I can't recomend them to anyone now.

Do you want to be successful in Farm Town?
Or, the psychology of Farm Town.

Unlike some games Farm Town is a social environment.  It's intended to get people together, let them find and make new friends and learn to work together.  Unlike many on-line games there are rewards for doing a good job.  You get to build your farm any way you want.

Since I began building my farm I've seen all kinds of people in Farm Town.

I've seen those who are completely self motivated who can't work with others at all.  I've hired people to work on my farm who became furious when I would hire another friend or neighbor to help them.  I learned very quickly not to hire these people again.  I've also learned the really successful farmers think the same way I do.  If you want to succeed in Farm Town you learn to get along.

(Tip)
Never get angry if someone hires someone else to work with you on their farm.  Odds are good that person who hired you will hire you again and the person you are working with may also hire you to work on their farm, or work for you on your farm.  Working as a team is a win win deal.  Some of those farmers are level 34, have big farms and plant high dollar crops.

(Tip) Never Beg Endlessly for a Job!
I've seen tons of "beggars" howling in the market for someone to hire them so they can make money and points to build their farms and increase their levels.  I've learned there are people who beg like crazy and the more they beg the less likely they are to get a job.  I've learned that people who have large farms and high dollar crops like to hire people who beg as little as possible.  In fact I flash in and out of the market just to sell my goods and sometimes I get hired before I can get away even though I never asked and wasn't looking for a job.

I never turn down a job even if I'm not looking for one. (TIP)

The majority of the beggars are a certain class of people.  They think the more they howl the greater the odds are they will get hired.  In fact the opposite is true.  Beggars tend to annoy successful people.  As with myself the more a person begs the less likely that I will hire them.

Don't be Rude!
Don't be rude to people who visit your farm.  Part of the fun in visiting other people's farms is to see how they have made their farm.  If anyone can see your avatar they can click on it and visit your farm.  Don't worry, they can't harm, change or steal anything you have on your farm.

I've visited people's farms to see they are not very well along and had them ask me "what are you doing here?"  I said "I'm just visiting."  And they said "please leave."  I know right then they will either learn to get along with strangers or they will not do well in Farm Town.  The game is designed to reward people who can get along and work well with others.

Try to Watch Your Language.
Try to be patient and understanding.
Depending on who you are with you should try to watch your language to some extent.  Working on a farm among my friends and those who know me I talk in chat the way I speak in life.  If the mood hits me I'm likely to say almost anything for a laugh.  "Dammmit Jim, I'm a f*c@in' farmer not a brain surgeon!"  It's good for breaking the tension when the stupid Internet and Farm Town are giving problems.  It's great for breaking the tension when you jump into a HUGE farm filled with raspberries!

Raspberries!
I say "raspberries" because they grow to harvest in 2 hours and they only make you $12 for harvesting them.  They are great point builders but that's about it.  I've seen Krayzhorse hire 7 or 8 people from the market to harvest his only to have one or two of them remain after they see what they are harvesting.

What does this teach us about these people?  It tells us right away they are there for the money and the points.  The way I see it if they don't have some physical disability like tendentious, corporal tunnel, or hands and they can't harvest my raspberries I'm not very likely to have them harvest my pineapples (Highest paying crop in Farm Town.)  Truth is I have tendentious and fybromyalga so I must limit how much clicking with the mouse I do in a day.

Sexual Language
I've seen people in the meeting hall using the most aggressive sexual language you could imagine.  A lady asked the guy how old he was and he said "13!"  PLEASE!  Maybe he was only 13 and I realize most in that room remained but I have seen some who would leave instantly.  The good news is you can click on their ICON and hit the IGNORE button and you won't see or hear from that person again, even if they are in the room.
Sometimes people create art on their fields.  Here you can see I had space invaders as from the old computer games long ago.
My sister goes as Gabby on Farm Town.  This was her farm before she hit level 34 and bought three mansions!

Please notice she has a beach!
This was Tammy's farm.

All of these farms have evolved since these pictures were taken.
Games like these are intended to occupy our time and keep us from doing things we need to do.  They intend to keep us online and in front of their ads as much as possible.
Sure they are fun at first until they take over our lives.
At first I wanted to tell people how to have fun playing games like these but the truth is the best advice I can give is avoid them if you can.  Find anything else that you need to do and go do that.
