There is nothing I would rather do than write and share the adventures in my mind with others. To bring a smile to someone's face is a dream come true. I the words of my publisher "I'm watching my dreams turn to dust before my eyes" and this is why I'm writing this. For all those who would have read these novels and enjoyed them, I am sorry.
If you ever intend to read this novel series and discover the secrets as you read then you do not want to read these pages. For the time being, until Sept. 1st you can still buy these novels. Second of all the novels are going out of print and you might never be able to get your hands on this wonderful novel series unless you act now and get a set, so read it if you like, it's up to you. Some people can read the ending of the novel and still enjoy the story, most people can't. So please think about this before you continue into these pages.
Another thing that is quite disturbing is the fact the book stores have been ordering my books and apparently Ingram's has been canceling their orders. We have dealt with this before, we have watched the orders being placed. We know the book store managers were bypassing Waldenbooks ordering computers so that corporate HQ could not delete the orders. When Ingrams was questioned, time and time again they said "there have been no orders for these novels." What is happening to the orders we are not certain. We do know the orders are being placed and we do know that Ingrams says there was no orders showing in their computer. We know that book stores prefer to order books they can tear the front covers off of and return for a refund. We know they will avoid POD and non returnable books if they can. We do know the barbaric pratice of tearing covers off novels and returning them for a refund has created a very unfair system in the publishing business, and it should be done away with. All books should be non returnable and the system would be more fair to small publishers and self published authors.
02/18/05: Yesterday I received a call from a Waldenbooks manager who said she finally managed to get one of my "Dark Matter" novels in. She said she bypassed the computers ordering system and went to Ingrams ordering as if for a customer and they sent her the novel. As long as she was ordering as if from the Waldenbook store the orders are never filled and apparently never show up in the Ingrams computer. Since we know she placed the order then we also know that someone or some computer along the line deleted that order without notifying her.
Why they wouldn't want to sell my novels is a mystery because they make more on the sales than anyone else does. The only clue I have is the knowledge that my publisher is on another contract with them and she refuses to pay the extra money they are asking for keeping her as a publisher. We know she is paid up until September 1st of 2005. The book store manager says she is not ordering through her company she is ordering the books direct from Ingrams through her store computer. If you have a problem getting the books from Ingrams try Baker and Taylor or contact us. We have the novels in stock, at least for the time being.
Why am I revealing the secrets behind the novel series?
Because I am in a serious state of depression. I should be working on a TV show right now but I can't keep my mind on track. My publisher is going out of business and this wonderful fun filled family Sci-Fi adventure series is going out of print Sept. 1st, 2005 and there's nothing I can see that I can do to prevent it. I had intended to reveal the secrets within the novel series but now it looks like 6 novels is all there may ever be of this series and I don't see much point in keeping the secrets anymore.
3-15-2005: I've started editing and rewriting The Medallion Mystery in order to submit it to other publishers again. The story line and continuity of the novel with the other novels, and other things are being corrected. The secrets on these pages is the background behind the entire novel series now. Little by little some things on these pages will be updated and changed as I work.
I have received phone calls and E-mails asking me for more PR information. I received a phone call from the Oprah show, one of my fans told them that something strange was going on with my novels and they were going out of print. I have created a brand new PR CD that is a website on CD with all the information anyone might ever want to know about The Adventures of Megan Martin series. Pages, info, graphics, sound files, you name it I'm putting it on the disk, including all 6 novels and two screenplays. I have trouble with my eyes quite a lot these days and sometimes I can barely see what I'm typing, like right now.
Have you ever talked to someone who was too smart for their own good? They buy up garbage and turn down the good stories just because they can. But don't ever tell them they're wrong, that makes them angry. Well I don't care anymore, let them be angry with me. And when I'm dead and gone perhaps someone else will begin to pay attention.
Agents and publishers gave me a very bad time when I tried to get my first agent and get the first novel published. Agents and publishers assumed they knew what kind of story I had written when in fact they have no clue at all. They tell me it's too large to be a children's novel and I tell them it's NOT a children's novel and they hang up on me. I'm sick of people who could help thinking they know what's going on when they don't. I'm really sick and tired of constantly fighting off the depression, frustration, and really bad thoughts that go along with it while I watch my hopes and dreams go to dust before my eyes. I'm sorry for my wallowing in self pity here and I'm not going to give up, not yet. I will search for another agent, another publisher and I have more stories to write. Some of them are spin-off's from this novel series. One of them was actually a forerunner to this series. The Mystery Man who was introduced in Novel 6 Dark Matter was my first original character created back around 1970.
I apologize to those who I made certain promises to that if I ever did well with my novels and screenplays I would help them. I am truly sorry. I (and a few others) prayed to God over this very thing for a long time and since those I promised to help all have work in God's business like training missionary pilots and being missionaries and even a gospel singer/songwriter who I told I would build him a TV studio so he could put on his inspired TV series. Well it's come to the point if God wants it to happen He's going to have to kick some angel asses and make it happen.
It burns me up that Hollywood produces garbage as fast as they can but good stories don't stand much of a chance. Like the publishing business it's an insider's business. If you are on the inside you have it made even if you write and produce garbage you can sell it and get it on the screen. Though one thing that gets me is that sometimes a really exceptional series can be canceled like Touched by an Angel, or Dead Like Me on Showtime. The only decent series they had and they replaced it with a series called Huff that's not even worth watching. How did that happen?
